Customs destroys a large number of confiscated goods




A large number of confiscated goods have been destroyed on 9th November 2021. The items were destroyed in the waste disposal area of K. Thilafushi.


Among the destroyed goods include 4,142 bottles alcohol and 717 beer cans containing alcohol, which were seized during baggage examination at the Velana International Airport (VIA). Apart from these, 31750 sticks of cigarette, 7.3kg tobacco, 523 empty bottles/cans and other 173 items conflicting to the Import Prohibition Act of the Maldives were also listed among those destroyed goods.


These items were destroyed as per the required procedures enacted under Article 422 of the Customs General Regulations.
