Export rise by 39% in March




The CIF value of goods imported during last March is decreased by 9% to that of the same period last year, which is a decrease from MVR 4.5 billion in March 2018 to MVR 4.1 billion in March 2019. The largest quantity of the imports in March 2019 was from Singapore which is 16% of the total imports and UAE coming at second with 15% of the total imports.
The total revenue collected through customs duty and other fees and fines during March 2019 is decreased by 4% compared to that of March 2018. A total of MVR 267 million was collected through Customs duty last month.
The FOB value of goods exported during March increased by 39% compared to March 2018. Approximately MVR 246 million worth of goods were exported during March 2018, whereas this year the figure was recorded at MVR 341 million. Among the top exporting countries, Thailand was recorded the highest with 48% and Germany at the second with 10% of the total exports.
