Weapons of Mass Destruction – Detection, Identification and Response Training (WMD-DIRT) begins today.




Weapons of Mass Destruction – Detection, Identification and Response Training (WMD-DIRT) targeting customs officers organized by US Export Control and Related Border Security (EXBS) begins today.

A ceremony was held this morning to inaugurate the training. The function was attended by the Assistant Commissioner of Customs Mr. Ismail Nashid along with the interim Advisor of EXBS Program in Sri Lanka Mr. Paul James Shott, trainers from the US EXBS, executives of Customs and participants.

During the ceremony, Chief Superintendent Mr. Ismail Hamdoon expressed appreciation on the assistance rendered by EXBS towards capacity building of Customs over the years.

25 Customs Officers take part in this 5-day workshop, which is conducted and facilitated by the EXBS Program Office in Sri Lanka.
