Customs seizes 302 tablets of Amphetamine.




Through luggage inspection of a Bangladeshi passenger, Customs has seized 302 tablets of amphetamine. The 23-year old male who arrived on 10th February 2018 was questioned by the Customs officials at the Velana International Airport (VIA) which further led to the detailed inspection of his luggage.

Officers discovered number of bottles concealed in his luggage in a suspicious manner, which were later found to have 302 tablets of Amphetamine in them.

The passenger along with the seized drugs have been handed over to the Maldives Police Service for further investigations.

According the Narcotic Drugs Act, any individual attempting to smuggle narcotics and psychotropic substances into the Maldives shall be imprisoned for life and shall be fined between MVR 100,000 and MVR 1,000,000.
