Customs has seized 7kg of Drugs in September




Customs has seized 7.065kg of drugs in the month of September. In separate operations held at Gan International Airport (GIA) and Velana International Airport (VIA) on 18th and 21st September respectively, these drugs were seized from passengers who arrived from India and Pakistan.

In the first case, on 18th September 2017, luggage of 5 passengers who arrived from India were thoroughly checked due to their suspicious behavior. During the luggage examination, it was discovered that 4.31kg Heroin, 1.83kg of Hashish Oil and 285gram of Crystal Meth were concealed in their luggage.

There were 3 male passengers of age 27, 29 and 30 and two females of 32 and 53 years of age.

The second seizure was on 21st September 2017, where 640gram of Heroin was seized from a 31-year old Pakistani male passenger who arrived from Dubai via Fly Dubai FZ 555.

These passengers along with the seizure drugs have been handed over to Maldives Police Service for further investigations.
