Maldives Customs Service seizes 8kg of drugs.

Maldives Customs Service seizes 8kg of drugs (Heroin, Hashish Oil) from a passenger who arrived on 13 June 2017. The seizure included 1.2 kg Heroin and 7.2kg Hashish Oil.

Speaking in the media briefing, Chief Superintendent of Customs Ismail Hamdoon noted an increase in drug seizures and on the challenged drug concealment methods being encountered these days. Therefore, he urged public to be more cautious while accepting parcels when travelling from abroad.

The control deliver operation conducted with the Maldives Police Service has also led to a seizure of 14.75kg of (Heroin and Hashish Oil) from a shipment imported through air cargo. The quantity of drugs seized in these coordinated operations was recorded at 23kg, whose street value was estimated to be MVR 30 million.
