Customs Recreation Club won the 29th Women's National Basketball tournament held at Youth Center Indoor Hall from 21st to 28th December 2009. This highly anticipated triumph was the result of the strong commitment by the Customs Recreation Club and the high-spirited support from Customs staff and supporters. CJ applauds the team and the management for their outstanding accomplishment.
CRC won all four games played in the first two rounds and advanced to the final. In first round, CRC beat Police Club and Redline Club by 47 points to 43 points and 61 points to 52 points respectively. CRC secured final by defeating Police Club and Redline Club in the second round, by 66 points to 52 points and 66 points to 43 points respectively.
The final match was played on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 16:15 and the match was broadcast live on Television Maldives. After a nervous start, it took a while for CRC to settle. However Redline Club was on the lead while CRC gave a good fight. Both teams played a competitive game boosted by supporters. CRC took the lead on the fourth quarter, thus defeating the Red Line Club by 52 points to 50 points. Premila Meriyan Fernando was awarded the Best Player of the match. Best Player of the match was awarded to a CRC player in every match CRC played. The Best-5 players of the tournament were awarded to Premila Meriyan Fernando, Aminath Shiura and Fadhuva Zahir of CRC; Erandi Kawashaylya and Fathimath Rishma of Redline Club .
