Second Bilateral Contact Point meeting held between Thai Customs and Maldives Customs Service

The second bilateral Contact Point meeting between Thai Customs and Maldives Customs Service was held on 16th May 2009 at Farumeytu Kotari. The purpose of the bilateral Contact Point meeting was to discuss activities agenda based on the signed MOU between the Maldives Customs Service and The Royal Thai Customs Department concerning cooperation and mutual assistance in customs matters. Discussions were held on issues related to Customs cooperation, capacity building and on sharing experience in implementation of WCO SAFE Framework of Standards. The Royal Thai Customs delegation offered to provide an attachment programme of approximate 10 Maldives Customs Service officers to Royal Thai Customs with the key objective to enhance experiences on Customs-related areas, as well as further strengthen networking and the base for better liaison and co-operation between the two administrations. This activity is to take place during the second half of this year, after determining the most suitable and needed attachment training for our officers.
