On 27 January 2008, Indian male passenger who arrived from Chennai via Colombo to Male' on Sri Lankan Airlines UL 103 was intercepted by Male' International Airport Customs Officers due to inconsistency in answering the questions posed to him. Further inspection of his luggage and his personal belongings disclosed a brown colored powder packets covered with black insulation tape covered with brown tape concealed in false covering in the waist inside the jeans he was wearing. These brown colored substance when tested showed positive to Heroin and had a total weight of 196.4127 (one hundred and ninety six point four one two seven) grams including packing.
